Ijaazah Programme
The Ijaazah Programme
Study mastering the Art of Qurānic Recitation and receive Authentic Certification with transmission tracing back to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).
The Ijaazah programme is a rigorous testing process and systematic approach in completing the reading of the Qurān with a high level of proficiency. This programme constitutes one-on-one reading with our highly qualified and reputable teacher. There are no set limits on how much is read each lesson but designed to go at the pace and needs of the student.
The Ijaazah will be in the recitation of Hafs an Aasim.
What Is Ijaazah Sanad al Qurān?
The Ijaazah sanad al Qurān is a revered certification within the Islamic tradition, signifying an individual’s mastery in the recitation and memorization of the Qurān, as well as their ability to transmit this knowledge accurately.
An Ijaazah is a formal authorisation or certification given by a qualified teacher to a student, granting them permission to teach the Qurān.
The Sanad is the chain of teachers and students that links a contemporary Quranic reciter or scholar back to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) underscoring the authenticity and purity of their recitation.
Each link in this chain is a certified authority who has learned and mastered the Qurān from their teacher, ensuring that the recitation remains authentic and unaltered. This chain is crucial for maintaining the integrity and purity of Islamic teachings, as it provides a verifiable lineage of knowledge transmission.
The Programme consists of the following:
1. Demonstrating Mastery: Once your teacher feels you have achieved the required proficiency, you will be asked to recite the entire Qurān from beginning to end observing all the Tajweed rules with accuracy. The student must have minimally memorised 1-5 chapters of the Qurān competently and proficiently.
2. Testing and Evaluation: Your teacher will rigorously test your recitation to ensure it meets the high standards required for an Ijaazah.
3. Receiving the Ijaazah: If you pass the evaluation, your teacher will grant you the Ijaazah, certifying that you have mastered Qurānic recitation and are now authorised to teach it to others.
Certification
The Certification is issued after mastering the recitation and is only granted upon the teacher’s permission. The Ijaazah will allow the student to teach the Qurān professionally at institutions locally and abroad.
Who is the Ijaazah programme for?
This is a skill-based programme and is not based on an individual’s age or academic achievement. Anyone who passes the pre-test is welcome to join the Ijaazah programme.
How do I enrol?
Apply for assessment. Schedule an evaluation with a teacher. You will be initially required to recite from any part the Qurān. Students will be admitted based on their fluency and accuracy of Tajweed Rules and pronunciation. Please note that applicants must pass the pre-test for admission.
How long is the Programme?
The amount of time it takes students to complete the program varies between individuals. The duration of the program depends on your study rate and therefore not according to a set timeframe. This will be determined between the student and the teacher which you can adjust as and when required.
