Why SQS?
Why SQS?
We aim to make this journey of learning and perfecting one’s recitation of the Qurān a positive, enjoyable, and valuable experience.
All our Quran teachers are highly qualified with ijaazaat in the recitation of the Qurān. We carefully handpick our teachers to ensure they match the high standards of Simply Qurān School.
Our teachers are not only qualified to teach the Qurān but are British, raised and educated in the UK, therefore can easily build rapport with students in the west. There are no communication barriers which can hinder one’s understanding and learning.
Our teachers understand the needs of every student and believe not one size fits all thus we tailor our teaching method and content according to the specific needs of each student.
Founder
SQS was established by Umm Ya’qoob, a British female raised and educated in the UK with a BSc honors in Computer Science. After graduating, her passion and desire to learn about Islam became of paramount importance and she embarked upon the journey of seeking knowledge. In 2008 she traveled to Egypt in pursuit of learning the Arabic language and the Qurān. By the Grace and Mercy of Allaah in 2011 she attained an Ijaazah (with an authentic chain of transmission) in the two well-known modes of recitation (Hafs and Shuba an Aasim).
For the past 13 years she has taught Qurān and Tajweed to over hundreds of students with different abilities from various ethnic backgrounds. She has a wide range of experience teaching both one-to-one and group classes from beginner to advanced levels. She devised her own unique methods of teaching this science empowering her students to excel and master the art of recitation of the Noble Qurān according to the way it was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).
Some of her students have reached advanced levels where they have gone on to teach others and attain Ijaaza’s.
What is an Ijaaza?
Al Ijaazah linguistically means ‘certificate’. Many confuse a Qurān certificate with the actual authentic certificate which is named Al-Ijaazah also which is a recognition that the person has entered the authentic Qurān chain of narration transmitted to the Prophet Muhammed (ﷺ) once mastered the recitation of the Qurān for a particular recitation. This is not easily achieved; it requires long-term commitment and effort.
The correct wording is ‘Sanad’ chain of narration like the chains for Prophetic authentic narrations ‘Al-Hadeeth’ upon, upon, upon. The value of the certificate also varies in its’ level of highness which depends on who it is attained from and how many chains of narrators are between the Shaykh/Shaykha/Issuer/narrator and Prophet Muhammed peace be upon him.
The less the narrators are the more proficient the Qurān reciter will be. The further the less proficient.
